You may still encounter “botanical specimen,” “not for human consumption,” or “sold for research purposes only” disclaimers on some vendor websites or product labels. These phrases signal the vendor’s regulatory positioning rather than the product’s actual intended use. They are more common among vendors operating outside GMP-certified frameworks.
If you see this labeling, it is not necessarily a red flag on its own, but it is worth asking why a vendor has chosen this approach over transparent consumer-product labeling. Vendors operating under KCPA or AKA GMP standards typically do not need this workaround.
